Learn the rules of Samurai Sudoku

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Samurai Sudoku. Complete five overlapping Sudoku boards. Every shared cell must satisfy both boards that use it. Use the example below to understand a decision. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Look at what changes after your first action.

This collection contains 4 puzzles. Progress is saved in this browser. The same puzzle can appear again; the collection is not labelled with calibrated difficulty levels.

One thing to notice as you play

Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention. Make the next step deliberately.

The objective of a round

Complete five overlapping Sudoku boards. Every shared cell must satisfy both boards that use it. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Follow this game’s rules rather than another version’s.

Step by step

  1. Select an editable cell.
  2. Enter a value using the keypad or keyboard; Notes stores candidates.
  3. Read the region, cage, arrow or outside clues alongside the normal constraints.
  4. Check entries verifies the completed board; Undo reverses your last input.
  5. New puzzle selects another included puzzle.

How to interact with the game

Click or tap cells and the digit pad. Use Notes, Undo and Reveal selected. Large boards scroll inside the game. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Check any mode label before starting.

Work through an example

One value entered in an overlap serves two boards, so check the corresponding rows, columns and boxes of both. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Keep the game’s format in mind.

Watch out for this

A full board must obey every extra rule. Reveal supplies assistance; it is not an earned deduction. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart.
